You will have to excuse Bowling Green University hockey fans if they are seeing double come the 2017-18 season. That’s when two former Chicago Blues from Elmhurst, brothers Lukas and Sam Craggs, will skate for the Falcons' D-I squad.

Lukas (96 birthyear) will begin skating and schooling at Bowling Green this fall, and Sam will join his brother the following season after a year with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers.

Lukas is a center/left wing who played five years with the Blues early in his career. He credits his dad Bill for helping him get as far as he has in the game he loves. “My dad has been my biggest influence on my career because he is always pushing me to get better on and off the ice,” he said.

The sports marketing major is setting his sights as high as possible with his ultimate goal of playing in the NHL and hoisting the Stanley Cup. Lukas’ advice for today's young players is that you have to put in the extra work to get rewarded and to always have fun.

Sam (97 birthyear) is a left winger who skated with the Blues for eight years and was a key contributor to the club’s only USA Hockey national champion in 2010 at the Pee Wee 4-A level.

Sam said the biggest influence on his hockey career was his parents, Bill and Debbie. His goal is to “play at the highest level of hockey that my abilities allow me to do so.” His simple advice for today’s young players aspiring to play D-I college hockey? “Practice makes perfect.”
